This section allows you to view the tracking details of the eligible global payments innovation (gpi) payments that you make on ScotiaConnect.
The payment is tracked through the SWIFT gpi initiative using the UETR (Unique end-to-end transaction reference number).
- A gpi bank is a financial institution that has subscribed to the SWIFT gpi initiative.
- A non-gpi bank is a financial institution that has not subscribed to the SWIFT gpi initiative.
After you submit a payment, you can access the gpi payment tracking details page to see the up-to-date progress of your payment, as it moves out of your bank and makes its way to your recipient’s bank.
In this help page, you’ll find out:
You can go directly to the tracking details page after you’ve submitted a payment.
- From the Wire Payments Details page: As soon as you submit an eligible payment, your confirmation message will include a link directing you to “Get up-to-date tracking information”.
Or you can search later to check the progress of the payment.
- From the Payment Search page: When you search, payments eligible for gpi tracking will include a “Track Now” link in the search results table.
Once you’ve reached the tracking details page, you can view the current information or refresh the page to get updates on the status of the payment. At any point in the progress of the payment, you can also print the page or download the tracking details for your records
The following details will help you to see the progress of the payment, as it moves from Scotiabank to the recipient bank:
In the banner at the top of the page, you’ll see information related to the payment status.
- The status of a payment will be noted, along with a date-and-time stamp. A payment may have the following statuses:
- In Progress: The payment is still on its way from Scotiabank to your recipient’s bank.
- Completed: The payment has reached your recipient’s bank and has been deposited in the beneficiary account.
- Rejected: A red X will note which bank rejected the payment. If you have the entitlement to send a wire memo, you will also see a link allowing you to create a wire memo to request additional information.
- Elapsed Time displays how much time has passed since the payment was initiated from within Scotiabank.
- The UETR is the unique end-to-end transaction reference number. This number allows the payment to be tracked from Scotiabank to the gpi recipient’s bank.
You’ll see the information related to the payment originator and the payment recipient in two grey boxes underneath the banner at the top of the page.
- Sender is the name of the originator of the payment.
- Amount Sent displays the total and the currency of payment to be moved from the selected Scotiabank account.
- Recipient is the name of the entity receiving the payment.
- Amount Received displays the total and the currency of payment to be received into the selected recipient account.
Below the originator and recipient details, you’ll see a progress bar and a series of white boxes. These show the payment as it moves from Scotiabank to the selected recipient bank.
- Scotiabank is the originating bank for your payments, so it will be labeled in the first white box. Scotiabank’s bank identification code (BIC) is also included, as well as the bank’s location and a time-and-date stamp noting when the payment was initiated.
- The recipient bank is labeled in the last white box along the progress bar, along with the bank’s name, BIC, and its location. When the payment reaches the gpi recipient bank, you will also see a time-and-date stamp here to mark the payment’s completion.
- Any intermediary banks through which the payment must move will be displayed on the progress bar in between the originating and recipient banks. If an intermediary bank is a gpi bank, it will be noted with its location, as well as its incoming and outgoing time-and-date stamp. Banks that are not part of the gpi initiative (a non-gpi bank) will not include these details.
At the bottom of th page, you’ll find the Payment Summary, which includes the same sender, transaction, and recipient details that are also available on the full wire payment details page.
